Annapolis

As the capital of Maryland, Annapolis, is also considered part of the Baltimore and Washington Metropolitan area. It lies on the Severn River about 2 miles up from the Chesapeake Bay and about 25 miles south of Baltimore and 25 miles east of Washington DC. This city has a great deal of history as it was founded in 1649 by Puritan exiles from Virginia and later also became home to the United States Naval Academy in 1845.
