It's a good day to be a Baltimore fan.   That's because last night, our Baltimore Ravens defeated the San Francisco 49ers in a hard-fought, 34-31 battle to win Super Bowl XLVII in New Orleans.

The Ravens came out the gate firing on all cylinders in the first quarter.  Electing to kick off after winning the coin toss, the Ravens defense quickly shot down the 49ers before their offense took the field for the first time.  Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco wasted no time with a beautiful, soaring pass to Anquan Boldin to put them up 7-0.

After a quick 49ers field goal, the Ravens marched down the field following a punt to score once again.  Scores followed, but the Ravens were holding a steady lead by halftime at 21-6.

The Ravens elected to return the ball in the second half and wasted no time at all as Jacoby Jones returned the ball for a 108-yard return, tying the record for the longest kick return in Super Bowl history.

Then, it went black.  An electrical failure struck the Superdome, resulting in about half its lights blacked out and a 34-minute delay.

San Francisco immediately came alive in the aftermath scoring two touchdowns in just over four minutes.  Adding a field goal to their two touchdown, the niners were inching dangerously close with a score of 23-28 by the end of the third quarter.

The first three possessions of the final quarter resulted in points - two field goals for Baltimore and a touchdown for the 49ers, making the score 34-29 after the niners missed a two point conversion attempt.

With one final offensive possesion, the 49ers couldn't capitalize on a score.  The Ravens ran down the clock to win Super Bowl XLVII and end the 2012-13 season.

Congratulations to the Baltimore Ravens on a spectacular season and Super Bowl victory.
