Description

Sotto Sopra is happy to present another edition of Peabody Nights, an evening of live music provided by students and graduates of the Peabody Institute.

Event Details

The Peabody Institute is the oldest music conservatory in the nation, offering advanced degrees of all levels in music performance, education, composition, history, and sciences. With world-renowned faculty and alumni, it serves as both a stepping stone to the world of music and a connection to Baltimore’s own community. This evening’s performance will be a dedication of love and affection, in honor of Valentine’s Day! Come enjoy a variety of opera, musical theatre, jazz, and pop songs that celebrate the holiday and feature the evening’s performers:

Daniel Sampson, Tenor
Praised by the New Orleans Times-Picayune for his “strong and moving performance,” tenor Daniel Sampson sings with vigor and inspiration. Sampson actively performs opera, musical
theatre, concert, and liturgical works, and has taught at all levels of music education. This season marks his debut with Washington National Opera in Porgy and Bess as Robbins, and as Georgio in Briscula the Magician with Bel Cantanti Opera. He holds degrees in music from Loyola University New Orleans and Peabody Conservatory.

Madilyn Crossland, Mezzo Soprano
Mezzo Soprano Madilyn Crossland is currently serving as a Musician First Class in the United States Navy Band Sea Chanters. She was a soloist for the Bernstein Mass under the baton of Marin Alsop in 2018, and the Haydn Harmoniemesse with the Peabody Symphony Orchestra in 2017. Known for her versatility, Crossland has a background in musical theatre, as well as pop, jazz, and folk music, and uses
these influences in her own original songs. She holds a Bachelor of Music from Chapman University and a Master of Music from the Peabody Institute.
