Join NAMI and Dr. Marsden McGuire for Part 1 of the Geriatric Mental Health Series. You will learn about major issues in geriatric mental health, including personal, genetic, environmental and cultural contributions to mental illness in older persons.

Event Details

Dr. McGuire currently serves as the Director of Continuum of Care and General Mental Health Services for the Office of Mental Health and Suicide Prevention in the Department of Veterans Affairs. He oversees national mental health policy including the full continuum of care, integrated care, evidence-based therapies and geriatric mental health. He has led a number of inter-professional and collaborative efforts within the VA, and collaborated with other federal agencies, to promote patient-centered care that is safe, effective and measurable. Dr. McGuire earned his M.D. from the University of North Carolina and completed his internship, residency and geriatric psychiatry fellowship at Johns Hopkins where he later earned an M.B.A. He is board certified in General and Geriatric Psychiatry, and a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. He is proud to be a member of NAMI Metropolitan Baltimore.
