Description
2019 AIA Baltimore/BAF Annual Meeting and Holiday Party
Event Details
Join us as we celebrate 2019 and look to the future. Learn about our plans for the Center for Architecture and Design.
Free for AIA Members. Registration closes December 4. Registration is required to access the building!
This event is an opportunity to celebrate the season, network with fellow AIA Baltimore members and Baltimore Architecture Foundation (BAF) supporters, and to learn how to become more involved in the chapter and BAF programs.
Meet AIA Baltimore President-Elect Scott Walters, AIA, and members of AIA Baltimore and BAF board of directors and committees, and staff. We’ll be at One Charles Center, designed by world-renowned modern architect Mies van der Rohe, and the future home of our Center for Architecture and Design. The event will be on the second floor.
About One Charles Center
Built in 1962, One Charles Center set the standard for the modernist Charles Center development that sought to revitalize the downtown business district. Mies van der Rohe won the design competition—one of two buildings he would design in the city, including Highfield House. Today’s tenants include architecture firms Quinn Evans and BCT Architects, and soon AIA Baltimore/BAF Center for Architecture and Design.
About the Center for Architecture and Design
The 3,600 square feet space is located at the retail level fronting onto Fayette Street, and adjacent to Center Plaza. The Center will be our new headquarters, and will provide collaborative administrative and program space for allied professional industry, advocacy, and education organizations, including Baltimore Heritage, Inc., the Baltimore Chapter of the National Organization of Minority Architects (Bmore NOMA), the Baltimore Chapter of the Urban Land Institute (ULI Baltimore), the Maryland Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA Maryland), and the Maryland Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA Maryland), and the Charles Street Development Corporation. The Center will also include flexible program and gallery space, and a small retail space for books on Baltimore architecture.
Logistics
