He made his enormous fortune mining chromium, copper and iron at Bare Hills and Soldier’s Delight—and Jesse Tyson and his brother James Wood Tyson, both educated at Haverford College, followed in their father’s footsteps. James ran mining operations that expanded to Pennsylvania, Vermont, Georgia and California. Jesse, as President of Baltimore Chrome Works (later Allied Chemical), oversaw manufacturing and sales.
