National Aquarium's Marjorie Lynn Bank Lecture Series Celebrates 100th Anniversary of the National Park Service.
Event Details
In celebration of the National Park Service’s 100th anniversary, the National Aquarium will host a special installment of their Marjorie Lynn Bank Lecture Series on May 18th, featuring Theresa Pierno, president and CEO of the National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA).
In the lecture, “The Lifeline of our National Parks,” Pierno calls into question the state of our national parks and the water that runs through them, and shares how clean water gives life to these shared green spaces.
Before joining the NPCA, Pierno served as vice president and Maryland executive director of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. Her passion for preserving natural resources is reflected most visibly by her career – in addition to acting as president of NPCA, Pierno is the co-founder and co-chair of America’s Great Waters Coalition. She was an executive staff member at the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and served as an elected official on the Harford County Council.
