Allen Abend, author of the 2018 book "Maryland’s Treasure & Burden: Baltimore’s Peabody Institute Art Collection," will present the importance of the founding of the Peabody Institute and its Gallery of Art.
Event Details
The intertwined histories of the Peabody Institute and the Maryland Historical Society will be highlighted. He will discuss the remarkable art collection that was amassed by the Peabody Institute during and after the gallery’s almost fifty-year existence as Baltimore’s major fine arts venue. The collection, now owned by the state of Maryland, includes objects that have been on loan to the MdHS for many decades.
