Description

The Purple Poetry Book is back for it's 13th year and the celebration will be bigger than ever!

Event Details

Join TurnAround, Inc. for the release of our annual Purple Poetry Book. Now in its thirteenth year, the Purple Poetry Book features original poetry and artwork by survivors of intimate partner violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. This outlet provides survivors with the opportunity to tell their stories and celebrate their strength and resilience through creative expression.

The Purple Poetry Book release party will be a night of entertainment and storytelling, featuring performances by nationally acclaimed poets and local talent as well as the powerful contributors to this year’s book. There will be music, dancing, delicious food, and signature cocktails and mocktails for every palate.

We ask that all attendees wear creative cocktail attire featuring any shade of purple. The color purple is a symbol of peace, courage, survival, and honor. It is a salute to all survivors. Held during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, our event also recognizes 35 years of increased awareness and prevention efforts since the first observation in October of 1987. Through the lived experiences shared in the Purple Poetry Book, we intend to highlight the ongoing efforts and the necessary work that still needs to be done to eradicate power-based violence everywhere.

TurnAround, Inc. is the designated rape crisis center for Baltimore City and Baltimore County. Our mission is to educate, advocate for, and empower all people impacted by intimate partner violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking.

*SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE*

Interested in sponsoring this year’s Purple Poetry Book Release Party? We have three affordable sponsorships packages, starting at just $50! Why is the entry price to sponsorship so low, you ask? This is deliberate choice on our part, to open the door to local small businesses and independent small makers. At TurnAround, we’re deeply invested in our community, and we know our local businesses are too. Sponsoring the PPB is a great way to support the wellness of your local community. Plus, our sponsorships packages include promotion of your business on our social media accounts AND during the event itself! For more details on our PPB sponsorship packages and how to participate, please email our Survivor Initiatives Coordinator, Meredith, at mpirkle@turnaroundinc.org.
