Baltimore, Maryland is no stranger to the local arts and all the great happenings geared towards its promotion and proliferation in the city.  From visiting museums and galleries, to shopping at arts and craft shops, there are plenty of things to do in Baltimore when it comes to the arts.

The Highlandtown Arts District is one Baltimore area where the arts proliferate and an eclectic, creative working class work hard to bring them to life.  Located next to Patterson Park in Canton, HA! (Highlandtown Arts) as the locals call it, is a special Baltimore neighborhood where art-related businesses are encouraged to flounder through incentives like property tax credits and income tax relief from the local government.

Events throughout the year like the upcoming Great Big Halloween Parade of Light & Luminari call the Highlandtown Arts District home while many of the districts galleries and studios welcome guests year-round.

Art doesn't just stay inside the four walls of these places either.  Patterson Park, for instance, boasts sculptures from many Highlandtown artists all throughout its beautiful, city park setting.  A crosswalk at the intersection of Conkling and Eastern Avenues was recently painted by local artist Monica Broere as well.

If you're an art lover or even casual admirer in the Canton area, a visit to the Highlandtown Arts District will definitely be worth your time.
